Popular Malay food

This is the menu for Jan - Mar  2025 for Nazlina's Cooking Classes. We will make popular Malay food, staples for the Malaysian cuisine.

Book special slots for Mothers' Day and Fathers' Day, as memorable get together for birthdays, anniversaries, company team-building events and other occasions.

Regular classes with market tour is in the mornings of Saturdays, Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Big group events or private sessions can be booked on the following days: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Vegan, vegetarian, gluten free items could also be requested in advance.

To give you an incentive to book and pre-pay ahead, here is the condition from 1 Sept 2024 till 1 January 2026:

Last minute reservations 36 hours before the session commences will have a surcharge of RM50 per person.

This surcharge will be waived if the total number of people (including you) is 3 people or more. Or, you are the third person who book and pay for the session after two more people who book and pay for the session in advance, this surcharge will be waived too.

  • Char Koay Teow (stir your own plate)
  • Nasi Lemak with Sambal Ikan Bilis  & learn how to wrap the meal in banana leaves
  • Buah Melaka



Thursdays: 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th Feb 2025

  • Ayam Percik (learn the special spiced coconut sauce "kuah tumis" originated from the Malay people of Kelantan.
  • Nasi kerabu (a naturally coloured blue rice, redolant with local herbs and toasted coconut flakes)
  • Banana fritters (like the ones on the street!)

Saturdays: 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd Feb 2025

  • Chicken Korma from scratch
  • Nasi minyak Subaidah
  • Potato-carrot veggie dish coated with a special masala mix

Sundays: 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd Feb 2025

  • Tamarind prawns
  • Nyonya Chicken Curry
  • Kerabu kacang botor

This is a celebratory Malay Meal set (weddings, birthdays, Eid)

This is an Indian meal at a restaurant

  • Chicken Korma from scratch (not from ready made powdered spice mix); or vegetarian korma
  • Nasi kacang parpu (dhal rice with ghee)
  • Mint and coconut chutney

Saturdays: 8th, 15th, and 29th March 2025) 

  • Ayam Percik
  • Nasi kerabu
  • Banana fritters

SUNDAYS: 9th, 16th, and 30th March 2025) 

This is a traditional northern Malay Lunch set

  • Nasi Daging and air asam with kerisik
  • Egg Sambal
  • Jelatah (a cold Malay salad)

These are famous "coffee shop" or food court meal which are popular both in Malaysia and Singapore. As well as street food and Indian restaurant staples.
